ISRAEL <013228> Genesis 32:28 (c) In that this is a new name given to Jacob, it is a type of the new relationship of the believer when he trusts Christ and becomes a Christian. Israel has been used as a type of the church because they were under the blood of the Passover Lamb, they had a High Priest, they were separate from the nations, and they confessed that they were pilgrims looking for a city with foundations.
