1 . θεοσέβεια, 'worship or reverence of God,' 'reverential fear of God.' 1 Tim. 2: 10. The same word is used in the LXX for 'the fear of God' in Gen. 20: 11, and for 'the fear of the Lord' in Job 28: 28.
2 . εὐσέβεια, from 'to worship well,' hence piety towards God. The word 'piety' seems to suit all the passages where the Greek word occurs. Acts 3: 12; 1 Tim. 2: 2; 1 Tim. 3: 16; 1 Tim. 4: 7, 8; 1 Tim.
6: 3, 5, 6, 11; 2 Tim. 3: 5; Titus 1: 1; 2 Peter 1: 3, 6, 7; 2 Peter 3: 11.
